Getting Married in Cambodia

The Royal Government of Cambodia issued Sub-Decree 420 on April 1, 2008, which declares that Cambodian civil officials at all levels shall temporarily suspend permission to get married and the issuance of marriage certificates for any marriages between Cambodian citizens and foreigners until further notice.

For further information, please contact the Royal Government of Cambodia.

The U.S. Embassy Phnom Penh Consular Section will notarize Affidavits of Eligibility to Marry for American citizens intending to marry Cambodian citizens.  However, we cannot predict whether the Royal Government of Cambodia will accept affidavits issued during the moratorium period once the suspension is lifted.
